The construction of this Log home was place right over a spring, which flows into the Little Northkill creek. This is a perfect survival tactic of living in the New World of Philadelphia Co, Today it's Berks Co. The home has only one door which was placed under the porch roof. There are no other doors on the 1730's cabin. There's a window on the first floor and it's placed in the rear of the cabin. The upstairs windows are placed on all four sides. The log home has a fireplace and an inside stairs to the second floor. In the later part of this century a school was needed so they replaced the left side window with a door and built a stair steps on the outside of the home. NOTE; The standards for claiming your property was through a Gentleman's Handshake. You were not required to register your property. 1790-1810 the State resurveyed all properties and Deeds were given to the land owners.
