#28 Pioneer Log Home

Approximate Size 11"x 9" x 12"
This home is also an early type Pa. German constructed home of the early1700's. The home is constructed as a story and a half; this allows more room on the second floor. As you also see the second floor joists are exposed, above the door and windows. If you would look at this home today, siding would be covering the joist and there would be NO windows above the door.
This home has been built with the windows at two different locations, what's showing is a smaller window on the left of the door, with a larger window to the right. The chimney is also on the left side of the log home; Terry carves the wood to create the stone for the chimney.
The unusual two doors next to each other had a very important reason. The family strictly used the right door this lead into the kitchen. The left door was the keeping room only used for company and funerals. Also with the doors on the barn side of the house tells us of the trouble in the area in the mid 1700's. With Indian scalping and the start of the French and Indian war.
6th generation family members commissioned this home.
